Light and shadow are a vital elements in good illustration, it is important to know the basic of how to illustrate any object with appropriate light source and direction.

Rendering light and shadow correctly will create an illusion of three dimensional image on your flat surface paper, canvas or screen. It make your illustration more believable than line draw alone.

This Tutorial will show you four most commonly use lighting directions in illustration. It’s easy, simple but you will have to apply it in the right context to make it work properly.
