Character concept art female warrior work in process continue

Character concept art female warrior work in process step bycontinue.

So far I did tighten up the very far end background, mid-ground by add some icy snow into it to create somewhat unworldly look into the image. Lava and ice...the are sometimes seen together side by side, but we rarely get to see them. I do have a few video tutorials on the subject there are concept art tutorial painting landscape (Lava, Magma) and environmental concept tutorial ice-snow-scape. You can check them out to get the idea

Also change her face direction from front view to 3/4 view to make her torso or body flow naturally into "C" or "S" arch...works. *If you want to learn how to draw and paint face good there are "How to draw faces" and "How to paint portraits" It also create a little more mysterious element into the image by her looking off to the side suggest that there is another whole world outthere. Hammer head is almost there, still some of the little top flat area to be figuring out and paint over. Also rearrange some of the values on her overall armor (You can also check out video tutorial of similar process art tutorial draw and paint knight armor metal and art tutorial draw and paint gold armor , prep it for the final rendering or painting.

Then fix some problematic area on her right knees (still tweaking) The front guard doggie also change to have the lower body turn the other way so it would create a natural flow because it was almost create a tension with the bottom end of the hammer head (too close) on the previous one. I am trying to get the overall look and feel of the image to be close to the creature concept painting tutorial that I did a while back, except more refine and finished.

Though I am going to make it a bit more blue...the ice, snow and sky still kind of mute compare to the fire...we will see if it will fit. Aha and there shall be some special FX of the hammer and the dogs.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, greatly appreciate.

Here is what I have so far overall image of the warrior girl concept illustration

Zoom in on the Hammer, if you look closely...there are just a bunch of brush strokes and scribble. But zoom out as the image above, it looks just fine and make the illusion as 3D object hammer.

You can post your feedback and some cool images or links to inspire me to work on the one on the comment. Thank a whole lots guys for ideas, advices, and inspirational thoughts.

Because the unbroken teeth who hit first when the hammer reach the target (this design stage) it look like just out of the foundry, brand new, unused...

Any chance you've been watching Chronicles of Riddick as an (perhaps unintentional) inspiration? The cat-creature is very similar (in my eyes) to the hellhounds in that universe.

Can't wait to see the finished work. Thanks for following me on Twitter - I'll be following you too!

Dude! You have a great style! I was wondering if you ever have done a Darth Vader? I am creating a tribute book to George Lucas called "100 Ways to the Darkside" where I am having 100 hand picked artist create Darth Vader. I would love one for the book in your style. Please let me know if your interested!

Thanks a million

I'm liking how the concept is progressing on this piece Xia.

Have you considered making some kind of spike come out between the teeth of the hammer? Maybe something to simulate a tongue?

that hammer is great Xia, also the tilt of her head makes the overall image come dynamic in my opinion-- good job!

It's really taking shape now. It might seem like she's falling backwards a bit? I'm not sure though.

It's a really dynamic and badass pic. I like the epic contrast of lava and ice.

Yeah and maybe expand the canvas to the right a little bit (not much though). The break seems a bit sudden to me.

She's got to be hurting between her legs by now. Lava's terribly hot you know. :)

Laurghita> Good reminder note thanks for that! it will come soon. :)

Wanderluck> Probably, now that I look at it, it sorta look like it...I usually steal things from various place unconsciously, for instance her hair is kinda like Chun Li make over. Her spiky shoulder, you could possibly find it in some of the Frazetta's work. etc... Everything has already been done. The Hammer? it's probably somewhere I am just utilizing them.

Luna> Yes dear, very sharp teeth they will be. :) Thanks, the tongue idea is great too, but I am afraid it might change the whole composition set out.

Luca> Thanks brother!

Greg> Thanks bro!

Pokepetter> don't know yet, the leg is still kind of not there that why it make her feels not so solid, but it will be fixed.
Hot? nah, It's for the show. Assumeing she is not like us, we can run probably 6 miles a day everyday, but she could probably run almost 100 miles and she punch so fast you couldn't even see. Imagine Far beyond that those Victorian Secret model wearing bikinis in snow landscape pics. ha ha

snow> They are not real dog otherwise, those animal activists would come and protest on this blog and try to put me in jail...Now that would be bad... ha ha
