Art illustration draw step by step online

Create illustration from portrait drawing.  Art illustration draw step by step online. This post is pretty much continue from the previous posted Portrait study turns into quick illustration. In these steps, I just start assigning colors onto the existing values then slow paint them over the sketch as I see fits without changing much of the values.
Then I added or changed the hand that holds an apple, and the other hand to hold an ear-bud. Then I thought it would modernize the piece and it will be a nice contrast to the lithograph painting style I am trying to accomplish.
Then I slightly change some values on her face and her hair and the surrounding area because I thought it was a little too dark comparative to the environment.
I just have to look at the over all image and see it that would fit.
On the final stage, I decided to do the outline to emphasis the old school lithograph style to finish it off. Just hoping it will work out. :)

Your work is truly inspiring, I am new here and I am so glad I found this informative site, I've learned a lot so far during my visits here. I know you have been drawing for quite some time but you have raw talent, the type of talent and creativity that one can only hope to be born with. You make it look so easy!
I have a question I was wondering if you could help me with. I'm trying to illustrate a children's story book, I have some artistic ability but not much, I really have to take a lot of time and experience much trial and error. However, when I do take the time to sit and draw, I am often engulfed in my project and the time just consumes my life, I don't mind but my kids start complaining that they want dinner! Okay, sorry, back to my question. I would like the book to be very simple, nice colors, and very appealing to small children. I am currently experimenting with watercolors, both in brush and paint and watercolor pencils. However, when I view your tutorials I can't help but wonder if I should be exploring that avenue. I guess what I'm asking is, what is your opinion on media type for this kind of project; do I stay with conventional paper and paint, would colored pencil, even pastel be better? Or do I give the computer graphic software a try? I am not familiar with the graphic software but I'm willing to learn if you think it would better suite this type of work. If so, is there a program and hardware I should start with? I'm sorry for such a long post, I'm sure you're very busy and so I would like to thank you in advance for reading this and using your time and advice.

I'm glad you called it a lithograph style too. To be honest I thought that by carrying on working this piece you might end up losing something about it. How wrong was I! It looks mega cool, with that thick black outline that I also found so appealing in that old rogue samurai woman sketch you did. I also love this one at stage 3 where you are just applying the colour and it's all muted, especially cool on that apple.

I totally think this style of working could be fantastic when applied to your usual character designs.

Hi Michele, sorry for butting in here but maybe what the narrative of your story is about may help you choose the medium, same with the style. If what youre after is a very clean graphic style then computers would certainly help with that but things like buying a graphics tablet may be a factor. If you want the book to feel "warm and cosy" (best description I could come up with) then traditional media like watercolours would be better in my opinion.

Hopefully Xia will come up with something a bit more useful. Good luck with the book!

Chris, I'm glad you "butted" in, the more opinions the better, I need all the help I can get!
I wasn't sure if you can create a "warm and cozy" feel through computer graphics, from what you're saying it sounds like it's more of a crisp, hard feel. My characters have "fur" so I don't know if I can convey that on computer.
Thanks for your post!

Dahaca> Thanks brother, actually the right words would be God give me beautiful subjects of inspiration. hopefully I will have more time to do comics soon. :)

Michele> Wow lady, uh...Chris has pointed you to the right track. In addition, I would say try Gimp (software) it's FREE but you will need a pen tablet. Reason being, computer make it easy to reproduce and cost less in production cost over all, and easier to fix mistake. But if you love traditional medium, then go for it though I have not much experience in reproducing traditional piece, I just know that there are more steps and cost some extra $$$. My two cents, good luck.

Chris> Thanks man! I love litho, yeah that's a good idea. It's different than what I usually do. Im going to find the way to implement it to my work for sure. Hopefully it could be my signature mark when I start going fully free agent. :)

Jessica> Thank so much, glad you enjoy the art and the vids. I wish I have more way to record how I work. Someday someone will figure out. And I really need a faster and better video card computer aka new one :)

Anonymous> I mentioned it on the post. If someone discover this 20 yrs from now, they will know what period is it from. In other word, time period stamp for the piece. :)

Andrea> Thanks, trying something new and different once in a while it was fun. But I wasn't expect the end result as it is. I was totally going somewhere else in the beginning but sometime I just ride the ride...and let it takes me wherever it will end up. And here it is. :)
