Hey Xai, I notcie you use a large brush to get the shadows/ gradient effect on this mecha is it a standard brush or one you created because im having trouble with duplicating similar effects any thoughts? also you artwork and tutorials have been a big help!! Keep it up!
idrawgirls said…
zenshen>> The large one usually a default brush, because most of the time if I use custom that big, my computer will slow down and it's annoying.
Anyway, there is another tips I do...I use large Eraser (hard edge) to create space or reveal the color underneath (make it sharper) also. Make sense? It's a trick.

Peace!

Anonymous1> You are very welcome, didn't see you post here...sorry for the late reply. Interesting fact about Bamboo. Only 3 inches different for step up I assumed?

Anonymous2> Yes, a little bit...neither can I understand them all. That's why we need friends and family. :) Thanks

Just wanted to know how you know how to draw so well? Did you go to school and learn, perspective, portraits and stuff. Or did you just pratice practice practice what you saw around you and stuff?
idrawgirls said…
Anonymous> I would recommend good art school (I went to business school, not art). Well, I always practices and learning from the web, and at work. Practice from life, go to life drawing sessions at college and university will help...also join art forum and look around the web to find some cool stuff to inspire you.
Peace!

Greetings,

This is a very nice blog, and thumbs up for that. But i have a question. Im seeing all these tutorials/speed paintings over the web, and keep asking myself the same question. When ur putting down ur first colors after the sketch, which opacity do u use? Did u bound pen pressure to ur opacity? To sum it up, im curious about which tools/settings ur using at certain stages like opacity :).

Ano> Thank brother, that's a quite complex question. You will have to watch more video, I often explain them all here and there. But mostly...I don't do lot of trick and fancy layers...just principle. 70%-100% in the end. Keep watching more! Peace!

Hi, :)
I've been watching your tutorials a lot, cause they give me good pointers about workflow and stuff, but right now a have a vary dumb question, I guess. :D In the beginning of this particular video I can see that you [TAB]-ed out so there are no tool palettes in your way, but there is this painter-like palette with a custom set of colours which looks veeery handy. Is it some plug-in or something how can I get that too???

Thanks in advance and thank you for all the great videos.
regards
Zlatina

Златина> No worry! Glad you find what you need, there are plenty of information if you dig around...Blog is a bit hard to organize but you can try the search box on the side. Welcome to idrawgirls.com :)

Love your videos man. They are giving me lots of ideas, and you make it look SO easy. Question for you. In this video above, what program are you using to paint? The tools palette does not look like Photoshop. Is it Photoshop and you're using some kind of art plugin for it? If so, what's the plugin and do you have a link for it? Keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing more of your videos.

Whoops, just saw the poster above me posted the same exact question. lol. Forgive me. I will look around and see if I can find it.
