How to paint Captain of America. Superhero art tutorial Captain America. I decided to draw and paint another one of the Marvel super hero in the same style as Thor I painted earlier a couple weeks ago. Now I am focusing on the consistency of the art style and direction because most of the time my painting direction is all over the place depending on whatever inspire me at the moment. It can be good when you study and observe, but not so good as a presentation to show the consistency of your work. I am hoping to do more of superhero art tutorials in the coming weeks.
Anyway, I am really excited to see, other than Thor the movie, what they will do with Captain America in the "Captain America The First Avenger" the movie which of course will feature the Captain. Then there will be "The Avengers", hopefully, and the team will include Captain America, Ironman, Thor, and the Hulk as far as I know. Hopefully, it will turn out alright.
A bit of Captain America's story, Based on the Marvel Comics character from World War II. A brave, yet mild-mannered young soldier named Steve Rogers, volunteers to undergo a series of experiments for a US army Super Soldier program. The military succeeds in transforming him into a human weapon. Then a Nazi plot reveals itself Rogers must rise up and and become the First Avenger. Later, during a mission to Germany to stop his archenemy - The Red Skull.
The Avengers are a team of superheroes, appearing in magazines published by Marvel Comics. The team made its debut in The Avengers #1 (Sept. 1963), by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist / co-plotter Jack Kirby.
The original members of the Avengers originally consisted of Ant-Man, Wasp, Thor, Iron Man, The Hulk, and Captain America. The rotating roster has become a hallmark of the team, although one theme remains consistent: the Avengers fight the foes no single superhero can withstand.

Dennis> Good idea! will see what I can do. :)
im kinda new to this site of yours.for the past two weeks ive been admiring your awesome work.im pretty experienced with the pencil, but coloring is a weakness, ive red all of your posts on coloring and i understand the meaning of it all but still i dont know how to start.could you suggest me a good book on coloring, but one that is for absolute beginners or something...
Anonymous> Books? Have you read the whole blog and explore all the posts I accumulated over three years? This should get you started.
Here are some:
http://idrawgirls.blogspot.com/2010/02/three-important-rules-for-painting-and.html
and
http://idrawgirls.blogspot.com/2009/03/colors-vs-values-artists-tip-and.html
Scroll down the right column of the blog, you will see tons of topics, pick one. If you are good at drawing then NEXT is values, then color...everyone wants to keep rushing into color, but it IS NOT the colors...it's the values mostly then colors.
Well I would find a book from Richard Schmid called "Alla Prima" you could find it on amazon.com
Manga D> Nobody knows how to draw in the beginning. It just the matter of wanting to. Then wanting turning into passion...and practice then more practice until you meet the maker.
anonymous. these so called tutorials are not that informative for the beginner, and the speed painting videos are just as useless, they are too fast
My question is: Do you have any videos for TRUE BEGINNERS that are not fast and can get me started? or can you please make some if theres none?
I found this article usefull-http://www.ehow.com/about_6376213_definition-value-art.html
because even though its something simple like starting in grey and adding black and white, it becomes easy to see where the shadings go.
but anyways i still cannot create form. maybe you have some videos? i learn better by seeing than reading (none that are fast please!)
