How to improve your visual memory and skill.
Visual and photographic memory slot in your head is very important and the most valuable asset if you are an artist.
Here are some tips to help you improve you visual ability and collect more images, visual, and photographic memory capacity in you mainframe.

Cognitive level
In the evening, make a film of the day and review it in your imagination; visualize the most impressive events and all the people you've seen When you think of someone, try to see him in your visual imagination.

When you are reading or typing something on your computer, pay special attention to the actual form of the letters and words with their correct spelling. Close your eyes and see the words or even the numbers mentally.

Behavior level
Imagine that you are being watched. Pay attention to the expression on your face, smile when talking to people, make funny faces.

Think of the world as a movie screen, think of yourself as an actor facing his/her audience. Visualize yourself in a positive way.

The benefits of developing visual skills
Sight is a very stimulating sense. When you pay attention to images you can keep yourself alert and busy.

Mental images contain enormous amounts of information so it is a great way to help your memory and maintain a sharp mind.

When you are conscious of your image, it helps you to improve it and it even requires you to do so as it would be difficult to tolerate an unflattering image once you are conscious of it on a regular basis. You then dress better, you take better care of yourself and this can increase your self esteem.

Anyway, I hope this help some how.

Painting Lesson check list, tip and technique for artists

Painting check list for artists, tip and technique for artists.
Here are the checklist that you should have them memorized or make a flashcard. It is very useful to look at it before, during and finishing the painting.
FYI: I adopted the following key point in this check list for digital painting from master painter Richard Schmid. It is very useful key points for me to check my own painting over the past year or so. Observation and criticism of your work is the key.

Here are the painting check list to make you work the best it could possibly be
1) Careless drawing (accurate measurement and such)
2) Too many sharp edges.
3) Trying to paint things instead of shapes (Very KEY*** patches or shapes of value)
4) Painting more values than are necessary
5) Incorrect temperature transition (if you have cool shadow then the shadow stay only cool shade)
6) Muddy color or not confident blurry color
7) Unsuitable brushes
8) Working too much on detail instead of focusing on the overall image.
9) Overwork what should be left alone.
10) Values and edges
11) Too many highlights or hot spots.
12) Aimless brush strokes hoping to get lucky.
13) Poor selection of pigments and palette.
14) Timidity and lack of confident (fear of making mistake usually resulting in muddy)
15) Color should be clean and clear

These are some what a basic check list that will help you improve every time you paint. If you wonder why is your painting is not coming out the way you would like it to be then go through this list one by one...I am sure you will find this very helpful.

This list is up to your own interpretation because I didn't come up with it. But if you have any question I will try to point you the best I can, in my own interpretation, to the correct way.

Drawing Female spy comic book style. Here is another new video tutorial how to draw a female spy comics style.
Hello folks, it's been a while with no activity on idrawgirls.com I am trying to keep up with the holiday stuff, and it snowing for the last three to four days here in Seattle. It looks really beautiful with all with all the white color. But it's really hard to get around. It's is also very unusual around here in the Pacific Northwest, especially along the coastline. Though there are plenty on snow toward mid land and in the mountain.

Also Kapow Express will be update soon, I am trying to come up with some surprising turn in the story and have to decide which one will suite best and how would it keep the story going in the way that make sense to human being. So I tightening up the story a bit...which, in turn, slow down the acutual drawing and making process.

Painting Portrait three quarter view

Painting Portrait  three quarter view. Here is the last one of the portrait series I did a few days back. This one is a bit different than the previous two on the lighting and also the skin tone. I painted this portrait toward a little more toward cool side of color temperature (blue and purple). Also the lighting direction is coming from slightly below toward the front, instead of 45 degree above (default lighting) So it is quite a challenge for me to switch up the lighting around.

I just found this awesome oil painting demo vid from youtube so I thought I would share it with you guys. I don't really know what E M gist is, but it sure looks really cool. Painting in real medium is a lot harder than using digital medium, there is no going back and erase. You most likely have to start over if you mess up. So this is a real solid classic skill artist.

Cool and Warm color combination attribute

Colors with attributes from both the warm and cool colors can calm and excite. These are colors derived from a mix of a cool and warm color such as blue and red or blue and yellow.

A cool blue and a warm red combine to create deep purples and pale lavendars. To a lesser extent, shades of green, especially turquoise and teal, also have both the warming and cooling effects born of warm yellow and cool blue. Some light neutrals such as cream, pale beige, and taupe evoke some of the same warm and cool feelings of purples and greens. The opposite or clashing color for purple is green and for green, purple.

The profiles for each of these mixed colors include descriptions of their nature, cultural color meanings, how to use each color in design work, and which colors work best together.
