Learn from basic sketching to finish drawing quick color concept painting for comics cartoon illustration. This particular color sketch takes me about an hour. I might go back and touch it up later because I didn't feel like it was good enough.

I really love the design of this particular characters, I think overall they did a great job on the up coming film.
Based on the DC Comics graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. A complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, Watchmen is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the “Doomsday Clock”
Watchmen has received critical acclaim both in the comics and mainstream press, and is regarded as a seminal text of the comic book medium. After a number of attempts to adapt the series into a feature film, director Zack Snyder's Watchmen is scheduled for release in March 2009.

Agostino> Thanks, very kind of you. I am indeed, not the best, just crazy. I do what I can. :)

vofff> For sure, I guest back then when they create the comics...they supposedly mimic super-heroes at time. But they don't have the right to use it so they just use some sort of metaphor symbols. I guess. Pretty slick!

Awesome brother! I really admire you so much! You're skill is Great!

This one is a bit different... keep posting these kind of drawings!

Xia, how do you pick the color? I mean the Right colours, cause sometimes when I need to put in some color value, I don't match it well (and I'm not color blind!)

Thanks & Peace!

Kevin> There is no magic brushes, just default round hard and soft. Then scales that I have for download.
The grime and textures is not necessary indeed.
The key is in finding the RIGHT VALUES and put them in the right place.
,NOT Brushes
,NOT Fancy Layers
:)

Chris> Woo Chris! Thanks Brother I try my best!

Luca> This one I have ref. It's good for practicing values and color.
Well, paint from life and from references until you get comfortable then try again. :) Trust me.

Thanks Xia, I will try to make a post with some life drawings I did... but one other question, is it good that I draw life only with pencils or should I use other mediums like watercolors....?

Thanks a lot brother and wish you all the best, you don't know how much you're helping me! ^_^

Luca> If the poses are longer than 25 minutes at time, you shouldn't be using pencil. Gauche, Watercolor are good.
If the poses are longer than 45 mins at time, you should be using oil.
My two cents.

Hey Xia,

Question about your traditional pencil sketching - do you use softer pencils for them like 2B 4B? I was looking at some, and they are amazingly neat. Do you use the same style of drawing as you do on photoshop? Because if you do, I don't know how it all looks so tidy. Also the softer pencils tend to be harder to rub out!

Do you have any tips with pencil drawing and neatness pleaaaase!

Thanks Xia as usual. =]

Oh and better add an example so you know what I mean, like this drawing here:

Is that A3 paper?

Thanks!

This one is great man! I find the background a bit annoying though, as it's all diagonal. I think it's a bit too straight strokes at the left. It's boom instead of svoosj. You should post the other one too. The silk spectre one. You make it all look so easy.
