Drawing and painting Dragon Creature character design, Blase Fire
How to paint creature concept Dragon design: Blaze process. Online tutorial, digital painting using Photoshop. From rough sketching to refine color concept, Giant Dragon monster "Blaze", demonstration for artists who want to see the progression on how to go about making digital art for comics cartoon illustration, manga, anime and video games.
Here is the almost final part, part 5
Well it's actually done, but I will probably go back and do some revision if I see fits.
17) Now I am refining the front legs and the other wing using its local color and values.
18) Paint over the rider, give her some knight like beef up armor.
19) Then I am trying to bring out the Dragon's body a little bit more using value.
20) Then I paint the background, cliffs, rock and magma fall with lava flowing all around.
21) Add some magma crack on to the dragon's head. I thought it would be appropriate since it's a fire dragon. I might come back to touch it up in a few days with fresh eyes...it might be something good going on here.
This is the fin post, but I might continue it for the final revision.

I'm really trying hard (my last hope is to re-watch your featured tutorials) Please post more videos this week man! (if possible)
Thanks and Peace :(
Well done again bro!
That`s odd!!because I also feel sad these days :(
I feel that i will never get better on my drawings:((
Anyway love your drawing so much:XX
again nice stuff brother
Since I can share the feeling, but than again I don't have the time to practice.
Can't complain on how things are going atm though. :)
Awesome work.
XIEXIE! (hope you know chinese!)
I'll watch it... never expected this brother!! A great present =_=
You made me smile again!
Thanks... will watch it asap!
What's with you guys feeling sad and all? I'm happy all the time^^ I've forgot how it is to feel bad. It's just very happy to sohappythatIfeellikeIamgoingtoexplode-happy.
I got "sohappythatIfeellikeIamgoingtoexplode-happy" when I got the E-mail from Xia^^ Thanks Xia ^^ :D :D :D I really, really like it. Just started watching it though.
Obviously that could be down to personal choice or ease/constraints when making concept art, but have you made digital works with more expressive colour before, and is it a viable option in some paintings as a concept artist?
Also also: Love the tutorial, seems even more clear then the last one I watched (the Dark Valkyrie). I especially like the short summaries at the end of each section, and the addition of canvas sizes and a greater detail over all infact! I'd suggest this one to anyone looking for a structured way to make a digital painting. But what's with the crazy accordian music in the first section? :P
Also also also: Maybe it's my acrobat reader, but some pages are in the wrong place in your pdf. Currently, numbers 7-10 need to be put before the first page, in this order:
10,9,8,7,1,2, etc Just thought I'd say as you'll probably be selling this!
I love it.. thank youu!!:)
Also also also also Xia:
I thought you should know that in your newsletter thing it states that:
"...you ONLY if you get it before the end of Wednesday OCTOBER 1ST 2008, no exception."
You have somehow travelled back in time!
Luca> Thanks brother, about the subway drawing. I really like the subtle value and color. The thing that need to be fixed is perspective. If you fix it or fake it then it should be better.
Glad you like the dragon tutorial. You are welcome.
Negar>> Thanks sis, I am glad you like the tutorial. BTW, I have no idea if it is he or she. Maybe I draw so many female and ikt might reflex me as I painted the eyes for the dragon. So...it is really in the eye of the beholder. Thanks again.
Knuckle> Brother, Aren't you suppose to cheer them up. CHEER UP guys! :)
Chris> I totally agree with the glowing EYES, i will touch some up and post it sometimes soon.
Thanks for the feedback on the PDF and on the newsletter. I am on it and it will be fixed before the real launch!
Glad you like the tutorial and glad they are coming along better. I think as I do more and more recording (which I usually do it on the fly) the more points and more detail I learn I get to emphasis along the way. And with Blog I get instant questions and feedback so I know what are the audiences are looking for and what kind of level should I be shooting at and for whom:)
Blog is great for testing and developing products because it gets you into the mind of your audiences or your clan or tribe. And understand their needs. That's what I am trying to achieve.
Thanks again for all your help and effort everybody.
Cheers!
Pokepetter> Now brother! That's the attitude I am looking for!!!
Watch it more than once twice, three time you will get more. I usually watch any materials more than twice.
Cheers guys!!!
Now if you guys be nice and good. X'mas or Quanza or Hanaka or Chinese new year are coming up.
You never know what I might do.
:)
The more you give, the more you get.
My mom always told me that.
Yes, concept artists are varies some are super realistic, some are super stylize (Pixar & Disney & Anime), some are in between. It's entirely personal pursue of happiness. If you notice more realistic conceptual are often leaning toward monocromatic, but super stylize ones are very vibrant in hues. Though there are some exception, it's very difficult to create something so vibrant and colorful but some people master them. It also takes longer time and patience. My two cents. :)
I'll make sure I'll post some more photos again on the community. Only again no drawing, since I'm investing a lot of time in diving these days.
Really want to make a career in this, like most of you in art. ;)
